Celtic and Scotland legend Kenny Dalglish has criticized Celtic captain Scott Brown for to his decision to retire from international football. Amazingly enough no one in the media thought it worthwhile to ask Kenny what Scott's decision has to do with him but that's another story. Kenny is only giving his opinion on something he was asked but it was hardly the savage verbal mauling the Daily Ranger was reporting with their headline indicating Brown had been "slapped down"
At least Scott has had the decency to admit he no longer has the legs or the appetite for International football. Who can forget a certain defunct team's players pulling out of every Scottish national game with invisible injuries and excuses ranging from head knocks to stubbed toe's during the 1990's. Where was Dalglish and his opinions then? To be fair to Kenny he was particularly complimentary about Brown's abilities and correctly states that Scotland cannot afford to lose players of his quality. Fair enough but SB has given his all for Scotland over the years and can hold his head up higher than some of the pretenders who have pulled on the famous dark blue jersey.
Ultimately Scott won't be losing any sleep over Kenny's words. Over the years he has proven that criticism doesn't affect him and he will no doubt be aware that Celtic fans are proud that their captain is putting club before country: Especially a country's where the F.A is as anti-Celtic as you can imagine. One of the best lines of the Kenny interview came in the form of his assertion that Scott would regret his decision should Scotland qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia..... I think that's what's known as a moot point Kenny.
Do you agree with Kenny Dalglish? Are you as proud of Scott Brown for putting Celtic before the national team? Let us know in the comments.
