Tonight on a trip back from work, I had the misfortune to listen to the first twenty minutes of Clyde Superscoreboard and within that time there was a great reminder as to why any Celtic fan who values their health should refrain from tuning in. Seriously this show is not good for your blood pressure as evidenced by my reaction to their very first caller tonight who went by the name of Ronnie. Yes Ronnie was indeed a Rangers/Sevco fan and he had some very interesting ideas on which team were favourites for Sunday's League Cup Semi-Final. As is the usual with that mob's fans, his opinion was in no way based on team form, player ability, common sense or indeed logic. Ronnie tipped Sevco to win and cited the pendulum swinging towards Ibrox as a sign that things were different from last month's 5-1 mauling. What did he base his opinion on?.... Celtic's Champions League form. Apparently Celtic lost to a Barcelona team who aren't firing all cylinders and lost the lead 3 times to a poor Manchester City. Oh and we lost to Borussia Monchengladbach as well. Of course in sevcoland that translates as am imminent victory for Rangers.

Sevco Scoreboard A Massive Turn Off!

A Guide To Getting Employed In The Scottish Mainstream Sports Media (SMSM)

Tags
1: Amnesia Pills:
For the ex Celtic stars only. One of the most important pieces of kit in an ex Celtic player's bag if he wants to land a gig in the dog eat dog world of smsm. Sometimes when a player turns out for an incredible club like Celtic it can be particularly hard to let go of all those feelings you developed during that time. Well thanks to these recently developed amnesia pills none of that is a problem anymore. Just pop one a day and your time at Celtic will be wiped from your mind quicker than a fatty passing a salad bar. Never again will you get those twangs of guilt whenever you need to run your former team into the ground during analysis.. which you will be required to do.
Strachan's Griffiths Excuse Is Height Of Nonsense

Tags
Gordon Strachan has lost the plot! I kid you not, the man has totally flipped and if his baffling team selections as Scotland boss doesn't convince you, wait till you hear his latest on why he won't play prolific hitman Leigh Griffiths. Gordon was asked by several Sunday newspapers and his excuse was that the Celtic striker is too small. Let that sink in for a moment because it truly is as mind boggling as it sounds in your head. Now before I continue I must confess to having a lot of time for Gordon. The wee man did an exceptional job for Celtic at a time when we were downsizing and sometimes it's easy to forget that. Unfortunately he also had a tendency to come out with some bizarre statements. For instance he was critical of fans with opinions and one famous quote concerns them sipping cans of Kestrel. Well sorry but I'm more of a Buckfast man and it wouldn't be out of order to wonder if Gordon has been at the Bucky after his latest comments. Apparently Griff can't get a game because he isn't tall enough to defend set pieces and his exclusion is purely for that reason. Er What??

Obsession: What Sevconians Really Mean When They Use That Word

Tags
Ah "obsession": Could there be a better candidate for most overused word of the last four years? There was a time you couldn't find a sevconian who could spell it let alone use it. Now they cling to that word like a baby with a comfort blanket and it's been used as a deflection tactic and conversation stopper whenever things get too much for them. We've all been accused of it: Offer an opinion on anything to do with sevco and it's spat out like a particularly nasty tasting drink, usually topped off with rantings of a sick nature about paedophiles and the like. Unfortunately many sevconians shout it from the rooftops without fully comprehending why they do.
Where Were You When......

Tags
You know those events that are defined by the phrase: "Where were you when?" Those monumental moments in history when something so significant happens it can only be measured to yourself by looking at your location when the event took place. There are many famous ones: JFK's assassination, Whitney Houston's death, Princess Diana's
4 Points Imperative For Celts

Tags
Wednesday night is only the first of two absolutely vital games for Celtic. German cracks Monchengladbach come to Paradise with probably the same attitude most first timers do: That we will be a walkover and all they have to do is turn up to secure victory. What they won't be expecting will be the tremendous vocal support of the Celtic fans that have carried us to historic results against teams far better than the Germans. Nir Bitton spoke about it today when he claimed they will never have experienced an atmosphere like it, and he's bang on the money. If we get right behind the team and they play well, we can help them soar to new heights and pick up an absolutely vital 3 points with the away trip to Germany scheduled for the 1st November. Both these matches will undoubtedly decide our European fate and we must take every oppurtunity to ensure it stays in our own hands.
Just For The Record: ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!

Tags
Typical isn't it? When I first started this site I swore to try and steer clear of articles about two topics that only make your blood pressure rise: Sevco and their insane ramblings was the first one on my list, with the Daily Record running them a close second. Yet here we are a few articles into my blog and this piece is once again about the Daily Record. That glorified Rangers fanzine was at it again last week with their usual anti-Celtic muck stinking the place up to high heavens. Not only did they regurgitate a 4 year old story, they actively concocted a confusing headline which ensured our club's name got dragged through the mud AGAIN! There is no point getting into everything on this post as it has already been covered extensively in social media, fan forums and everyday conversation but this time they have gone too far.

Criminalization Of Celtic Support Must Stop!!!

Tags
Sometimes a story appears in the paper that is so barmy you are almost tempted to believe the writer is at the wind up. Many a time upon reading an article you're double checking the date to make sure it's not April 1st and you're not the victim of some cruel newspaper joke. Such a scenario occurred today when the media reported the outcome of a Celtic fan's trial. The man in question had attended the Celtic vs Hamilton game and indulged in a spot of singing during the match. What song was this terrorist sympathizer singing?: Broad Black Brimmer? Go On Home British Soldiers? Nope! This man's crime was to join other fans in a chorus of "Roll Of Honour" Let that sink in for a second and then tell me what is offensive about that song? Better yet tell me what crime was committed. Nope? Well don't feel bad because neither can I. Somebody could though and you it doesn't take a genius of city trader proportions to work out who.

Sevco Big Mouth All The Motivation We Need

Tags
Ah their at it again bless em.... Not content with their pre-season rantings about winning leagues and getting back to where they belong, our dear friends over at Ibrox are making some more seriously ill-judged statements in regards to the upcoming League Cup semi-final against us. Who is this latest misguided soul? A certain Harry Forrester of Doncaster Rovers fame that's who! Harry was in the Evening Times (I know I know) today giving his opinion on the match and he stated it will be a game the players will relish. Guess that's if you manage to get a start son eh?

Players Must Ignore Media's Transparent Transfer Talk Agenda

Tags
How Predictable! Starved of any negative news coming out of Celtic Park lately, the smsm has reverted to type and brought out an old favourite in their collection of sticks to beat us with. Yes fellow Bhoys it's time for the Celtic players linked with other clubs game. The rules of this game are ever so simple. All you do is pick a player, preferably a fan favourite and publish an article about how they are being tracked by other clubs. Sounds simple right? Well there are a few illegal moves to avoid. Each article must contain no concrete evidence of a move and if you must use a quote from someone to back up your story then ensure it is an anonymous one.

Taking The Pressure Off

Tags
Things have changed big time at Celtic. Last season Leigh Griffiths banged in 40 goals to keep us ahead of the pack and it was largely thanks to this man's efforts that we eventually won the league at a canter. Make no mistake about it, had Griff gone down injured at a crucial stage of last season there is a chance Deila's Celtic team would have struggled to get over the line. Thankfully he didn't and the Bhoys secured their 5th consecutive league title. This season things are VERY different..
Ronny Deila: What Went Wrong?

Tags
Now that we are firmly into a new dawn under Brendan Rodgers and most of us have put the disappointment of last season behind us, I feel it is time to take a look at the man who won us the 4th and 5th league titles in what is hopefully our run to ten successive championships. Ronny Deila arrived at Celtic as a Peter Lawell Project and promptly set about transforming the whole club from top to bottom. It didn't matter that most Celtic fans were asking "Ronny who?" or that there were serious concerns about who was in charge of player recruitment, all the Norwegian wanted to do was create a new mindset among our squad and fans.. As it happens RD did transform the club... but not in the way he intended.
Dalglish Dressing Down Won't Bother Brown

Tags
Celtic and Scotland legend Kenny Dalglish has criticized Celtic captain Scott Brown for to his decision to retire from international football. Amazingly enough no one in the media thought it worthwhile to ask Kenny what Scott's decision has to do with him but that's another story. Kenny is only giving his opinion on something he was asked but it was hardly the savage verbal mauling the Daily Ranger was reporting with their headline indicating Brown had been "slapped down"

Move Over Moussa..... Here's The Real Dembele

Tags
Today has been one of those hectic days where you deserve a big bottle of the finest after completing a mammoth task. In my case the mammoth task was the setting up of this very blog and my bottle of the finest was a super chilled 75CL of Bucky.... A wine connoisseur I am clearly not! While kicking back to read the various Celtic news of the day I managed to miss one of the most unusual stories from Celtic park in years: The strange tale of 13 year old Karamoko Dembele's debut for Celtic.
before I continue I feel it is worth pointing out that young Karamoko was not making his first appearance alongside other players his age. Oh no! The young Ivorian came on as a sub for the UNDER 20's!!
Desmond Hints At Club Policy Change

Tags
Celtic's majority shareholder was in Scotland today and as usual the shameless hacks masquerading as journalists at the Daily Record spied an oppurtunity to put the boot in. What did these charlatans want to talk about? Celtic's resurgence under Brendan Rodgers? Our fantastic result against the odds against Man City? Nope! Desmond was asked whether or not we could keep hold of potential superstar Moussa Dembele. Now before you roll your eyes just remember it's typical of the desperate need for the smsm to gather negative stories about Celtic, but this time they walked away empty handed as DD refused to play their silly game.
Brendan's Very Different Managerial Headaches

Tags
Being Brendan Rodgers must feel like a mixed bag of headaches at the moment. On the one hand our new gaffer has the luxury of trying to find a place in the same team for 40 goal Leigh Griffiths and up and coming superstar Moussa Dembele: Surely the type of headache that every manager can cope with? However on the other hand he is being put between a rock and a hard place by his decision to play either Craig Gordon or Dorus De Vries in the Celtic goal. It is undoubtedly the latter of the two headaches which will have Brendan reaching for the paracetamol as he seeks to steer Celtic to a magnificent treble and secure European football until after Santa's put his sleigh away.
